(My "finally" acquisition of a japanese ibanez artist has me ditching all of my LPs and LP copies except for a burny chinese copy - in case I ever want to have a guitar on hand to build). Not a name I knew and then I read his experience and credentials. I'm excluding PRS, too, except the short scale more recent guitars - they never quite sound like a paul to me until they shortened the scale.Īny others? Has anything that you've gotten as a guitar of this type actually displaced your LPs to the point that you've sold them as a direct result? they can be made to sound like a les paul, but are more comfortable to play (not counting any difference in neck profile - that's variable - but better access and balance on a musician). Guitars that can be made to sound like a les paul but are better all around (to me) would include the neck through guitars that came around in the 70s, but for taste, they can be covered with a plain top (rather than the 70s laminated look). I would've concluded that i like the nighthawk better (I do), but it doesn't work in this category because its scale keeps it from sounding like a les paul. What i mean by the title is a guitar that can actually stand in for a paul, but is demonstrably better or at least as good in every way, except excuse the fact that some guitars don't look like les pauls.
